## Summary
Teams deploying LLMs, workflow agents, and vision-to-code tools can add small checks before wider rollout: contract tests for hosted model changes, trace-based grading for agent pilots, and blank-input tests for visual grounding failures.

## Compatibility tests for hosted LLM model updates
Application teams using hosted LLM APIs should keep a small regression suite for the prompts that can break production behavior. The suite should include contracts such as valid JSON, code-only output, passing unit tests, and security rules for authentication or data validation. Each test run should record the visible model name, timestamp, prompt version, output, and pass or fail result.

The useful unit is the application requirement, not a provider benchmark score. The LLM supply-chain paper tested 25 prompts across authentication, data validation, and structured output over seven Claude models, running each prompt three to five times. Structured JSON tasks drifted more than SQL and authentication tasks, with failures such as empty JSON, changed exception types, JavaScript output where Python was expected, and metadata-wrapped outputs. One backend SQL function passed with Sonnet 4, then failed a safe-encoding test the next day.

A cheap starting point is a nightly check over the 20 to 50 prompts that write code, produce machine-readable output, or touch security-sensitive paths. A model update can stay blocked for that workflow when any required category falls below its threshold, then move through prompt edits, fallback routing, or revalidation.

## Trace-based acceptance tests for workflow-agent pilots
Teams piloting workflow agents across HR systems, management tools, SaaS services, and local workspaces should grade pilot runs with recorded actions and resulting state. A useful acceptance test captures tool traces, service audit logs, command traces, post-run files, fixture state, and task-specific tests. The final written answer can be scored as one artifact, but it should not be the only proof of completion.

Claw-Eval-Live gives a concrete pattern for this kind of pilot gate. Its public release uses 105 tasks across 22 task families, including 87 service-backed workflow tasks and 18 workspace repair tasks. The benchmark grades with deterministic evidence where possible, then uses structured LLM judging only for semantic pieces such as completeness or report quality. Claude Opus 4.6 led the evaluated models with a 66.7% pass rate, and no model reached 70%. The hardest areas included HR, management, and multi-system business workflows.

A practical rollout check is to pick ten recurring internal workflows, define the required writes and files for each one, and replay agent runs against a staging tenant. The agent passes when the service state and workspace artifacts match the task rubric within the time and turn budget, not when the transcript sounds plausible.

## Blank-image and anonymized-identifier checks for vision-to-code models
Hardware and other visual-code teams should test whether a model reads the visual artifact before accepting generated code. The check is simple: run the same prompt with the real image, a blank image, and anonymized identifiers. If performance holds up with the blank image or collapses when names are removed, the model is using text shortcuts rather than the diagram.

C2VEval shows why this matters in circuit-to-Verilog generation. Normal prompts can leak the answer through identifiers such as `sum`, `cout`, `clk`, or `fsm_3state`. On C2VEval Normal, Mirage mode with a blank image matched or beat real-image mode on all eight evaluated MLLMs. After anonymizing module, port, and parameter names, GPT-5.4 dropped from 45.51% to 24.55% Functional Pass@1, and Opus 4.6 dropped from 52.69% to 11.38%.

EDA teams can add this as a pre-merge evaluation for any circuit-to-Verilog assistant. UI-to-code and chart-to-code teams can adapt the same pattern by blanking or corrupting the visual input and replacing semantic labels with placeholders, then checking whether executable outputs still pass task tests.
